Point Analysis - Training
Courses
By the end of the practitioners training course the students should be able to understand Function Point Analysis and count Function Points in accordance with the International Function Point User's Group counting Practices Manual.
Function Point Analysis is a relatively simple technique. The major cause of problems is translating the simple technique when confronted by the Student's own documentation. The last half-day of the course allows the tutor to guide the students through this difficult initial stage.
The practitioners course provides a group of up to eight students with two days of training.
Lalcrest also offers shorter courses aimed at Senior Managers who don't need to know the full details of the technique but do need to understand the benefits that can be obtained.
Lalcrest usually offers the training on an in-house basis but we do also offer a limited schedule of public courses.

Function
Point Analysis
Software organisations in all industries suffer from the inability to effectively estimate software projects, control software projects and objectively assess the
software production and support processes and environment. These are critical capabilities essential to the business of managing a dynamic Information
Technology environment.
Function Point Analysis has proved itself as an effective mechanism to provide the quantified basis on which such assessments and analyses can be made.
The technique has now been developed into an ISO standard.
Function Point Analysis measures software by quantifying the functionality provided to the User. Function Point Analysis has proven its consistency and value as a
communications vehicle and evaluation technique. It is increasingly the software sizing metric of choice for developers and customers.
Function Point Analysis is simple enough to minimise the overhead of the measurement process. It provides a consistent measure across many projects and organisations.
