Point Analysis
Software
organisations in all industries suffer from the inability to effectively
estimate software projects, control software projects and objectively
assess the software production and support processes and environment.
These are critical capabilities essential to the business of managing
a dynamic Information Technology environment.
A
Function Point count allows an organisation to compare one software
project or application with another.
Lalcrest's
Function Point Counting Process
Examine
the software projects or applications to be counted for suitability.

Lalcrest
collects the data from the project experts
On
receipt of the data Lalcrest uses Function
Point WORKBENC H
to build a model of the project. The
extent of the work involved depends on the size of the project and
whether previously counted projects have done work in this area.
The
model is checked and agreed with the project
expert.
When
the size of the software is agreed then analysis against other software
can be conducted.
Normally
Lalcrest's consultants would use the latest IFPUG counting practices
manual. However both Mark II and COSMIC counts can be done by certified
specialists.
